Clicks feel like progress, but they don't pay the bills. If your ads bring traffic and your phone stays quiet, the problem is almost never the ad platform. It's usually one of five gaps between the click and the sale.
1. The ad and the page don't match
Someone clicks an ad about a specific offer, then lands on your homepage and has to hunt for it. Most people don't hunt. They leave.
The fix: send each ad to a page built for that one offer. The headline should repeat what the ad promised, and there should be one clear next step: book, call or message.
2. You're paying for the wrong people
Broad targeting and cheap clicks often mean curious browsers, not buyers. A low cost per click can hide a very high cost per customer.
The fix: judge ads by cost per enquiry and cost per sale, not cost per click. Cut audiences and keywords that bring clicks but never convert, and move that budget to the ones that do.
3. The page is slow or awkward on a phone
Most ad clicks happen on mobile. If the page takes a few seconds to load, or the form is fiddly with one thumb, you lose people before they read a word.
The fix: test your page on your own phone over mobile data. Keep forms short, make buttons easy to tap, and add a WhatsApp or call button for people who'd rather talk.
4. Leads are waiting too long for a reply
A lead who fills in a form is often contacting two or three businesses at once. Whoever replies first, with something useful, usually wins. A reply the next morning is often too late.
The fix: answer every enquiry within minutes. If your team can't do that around the clock, an AI assistant can reply instantly, ask a few qualifying questions and book serious buyers straight into your calendar.
5. You can't see what's working
Without proper tracking, every budget decision is a guess. You might be cutting the campaign that brings your best customers and scaling the one that brings none.
The fix: connect your ads, website and CRM so every sale traces back to where it started. Then review cost per customer by channel every week and move money accordingly.
A quick way to find your leak
Walk through your own funnel as a customer would: see the ad, click it on your phone, fill in the form, and time how long it takes to hear back. The step where you'd give up is where your customers are giving up too.
